Media platform for Halyk Arena

A new multifunctional ice arena with 3000 seats was built in preparation for the 28th World Winter Universiade, which took place in 2017 in Almaty. In September 2016. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the arena and was satisfied with the inspection.

VisionHOUSE, a system integrator that has successfully proven itself in the construction of modern media platforms for sports arenas, acted as a subcontractor to technology partner ColosseoEAS. VisionHOUSE specialists built and put into operation a project of audio infrastructure for the arena, media infrastructure for TV broadcasts in accordance with the standards of coverage of international sports events. The solution includes LED information systems, a universal multi-sport video refereeing system, timekeeping, game statistics, and features a Unified Media Platform for complex management.

Mykola Zaluzhnyi, director of VisionHOUSE:

“We are often asked the question: what is a media platform for sports arenas? It is a complex ecosystem that helps to create an unforgettable festive atmosphere during sports events and convey it to millions of viewers. This includes professional sound, lighting spotlights, video on LED panels and video cubes, information systems for visualizing scores and game statistics. Properly planned cable routes make it possible to organize live broadcasts in accordance with the standards of sports federations. Broadcast-grade cameras and editing systems are used to create custom content that can be distributed to various devices. We integrate all these complex, multi-level components into a centrally managed system that increases the profitability of the sports complex by making it prestigious and attractive to visitors, sponsors and advertisers. Halyk Arena hosted the 2017 World University at the highest level! We thank our partners ColosseoEAS for the opportunity to participate in this project.”

Features of the project

The Single Media Platform  (SMP) from ColosseoEAS allows you to automate information processing tasks , reduce redundant operations and distribute content to various devices: LED signage, Colosseo Vision LED multimedia cube, IPTV, advertising banners, mobile applications on smartphones and tablets.

The SMP platform allows you to simultaneously manage all multimedia operations, signals from 8 to 24 video inputs, replays, advertising and graphic design of content. The new generation Colosseo system is used in the camera room to manage video production and replays to create vivid, emotional sports content and a festive atmosphere at the stadium.

The cable infrastructure is based on Draka systems from Prysmian Group, and Nevion solutions for media production are used in the project. Clear-Com’s professional intercom system includes a 36-port Eclipse HX-Pico digital communication matrix, a V-Series communication panel, and a FreeSpeak II Digital wireless communication station with beltsets.

Turnkey acoustic project

VisionHOUSE also implemented a full-scale arena sound project in accordance with the requirements for equipping sports facilities: the acoustic design of the arena was developed on the basis of a computer model, which allowed us to offer the customer the optimal type of loudspeakers and their directionality, configuration and location of amplifiers, and to select the model and cross-section of the sound cable. Taking into account the specifics of the ice arena, waterproof loudspeakers from Community, QSC amplifiers, and a professional Soundcraft sound mixer were chosen. Acoustic buffers were installed under the roof of the arena to reduce the reverberation time in the hall. After the equipment was installed, the reverberation time, high speech intelligibility and uniform sound pressure in the stands were set to international standards.
