Media complex for the Druzhba Ice Arena

The Druzhba Sports Palace was reconstructed and equipped to modern standards in accordance with the requirements of the KHL, the top league of which is played by the Donbass team. In addition to the renovation, a huge step forward was made: a video infrastructure was created at the ice arena.

As part of the project, cable routes were developed and laid, and switching boxes were installed. Such an infrastructure covers all camera positions and allows the broadcasting channel to simply connect the PTC to the switching panel, completely eliminating the inconvenience of running external cables. The video infrastructure created at the ice arena meets the requirements of the KHL and modern broadcasting standards. It was the first technological breakthrough in Ukraine among ice arenas.

“The decision to install the equipment was timely and correct, as it allowed us to raise the television entertainment value of the broadcasts to a world-class level.”

  • cable routes, switching boxes for connecting the PTS,
  • suspended inter-noise microphones,
  • commentary spots,
  • flash interview positions are equipped,
  • The TV program generated by the PTS is broadcast on video boards and monitors installed in the arena’s halls,
  • The video infrastructure meets the requirements of the KHL and modern broadcasting standards.

Ukraina TV channel broadcast the first match at the ice arena on September 1, 2011. According to Yuriy Lazarenko, chief engineer of the TV company, the implementation of the video infrastructure has helped to improve the quality of TV broadcasts. The number of cameras and their location are now optimal, and normal conditions have been created for the work of TV operators and for obtaining a high-quality TV picture. The PTS staff can now focus on setting up cameras, sound, and other important issues without being distracted by secondary problems.

“The infrastructure meets the highest requirements for organizing television broadcasts. It is possible to shoot with 15 cameras in HD format. Suspended inter-noise microphones have been installed, commentary seats and flash-interview positions have been equipped. The TV program generated by the PTS is broadcast on the video boards and monitors installed in the Arena’s halls. Prior to the installation, TV broadcasts were very difficult due to the lack of cable routes and the ability to install cameras in the right places. The decision to install the cameras was timely and correct, it allowed us to raise the TV entertainment of the broadcasts to the world level,” said Yuriy Lazarenko.
