The Platinum MX router from Imagine Communicaitons was chosen from the proposed solutions.

SES has been operating its own teleport in Kyiv since 2007. The key part of the teleport is a system for generating DVB digital streams (multiplexes). The SDI input matrix is one of the most important links in the infrastructure responsible for switching uncompressed video signals between the rest of the system’s equipment, so the new matrix had to meet high requirements.

  • maximum reliability of 24/7 operation,
  • high configuration flexibility for constantly changing tasks
  • the ability to increase resources without interrupting equipment operation and affecting current services.

Platinum MX matrix switches combine a highly reliable architecture with the flexibility to scale to help build technology inventory and protect customer investments. Platinum MX matrices provide independent routing and crosspoints for audio and video signals.

Platinum MX solutions have proven to operate seamlessly 24/7 in the infrastructures of networks, TV channels, mobile productions, cable and telecommunications operators, government, military, and corporate applications – in any environment where large amounts of audio and video signals need to be routed.

When choosing the system, SES Sirius Ukraine specialists took into account the positive feedback from other Ukrainian users of this equipment, in particular, the experience of operating the Platinum MX matrix by the digital television provider Zeonbud.

The implementation of Platinum MX in SES Sirius Ukraine’s infrastructure has resolved a bottleneck in the DVB stream generation system. The maximum number of processed TV channels has been increased from 64 to 128, with the possibility of further doubling without the need to replace equipment and interrupt operations.

The solution includes the Navigator Single system for monitoring and controlling the router through a software model that has improved remote management and monitoring capabilities and increased the comfort of the operating staff.

Additional redundancy capabilities have been added, and the overall fault tolerance of the system has increased.

As a result, a bottleneck in the DVB stream generation system was removed. The maximum number of processed TV channels has been increased from 64 to 128, with the possibility of further doubling without the need to replace equipment and interrupt operations. Additional redundancy capabilities have been added, and the overall fault tolerance of the system has increased.
