Media converged DVB-T2 platform for Zeonbud

As part of the digital switchover program in 2011, the National Broadcasting Council of Ukraine issued four DVB-T2 licenses to Zeonbud to broadcast on 32 national and regional channels for 95% of the country's population. As part of the digital switchover program in 2011, the National Broadcasting Council of Ukraine issued four DVB-T2 licenses to Zeonbud to broadcast on 32 national and regional channels for 95% of the country’s population. Selenio Imagine Communications’ media convergence platform was chosen as a complete solution for the creation of Zeonbud’s DVB-T2 headend stations.

The solution allowed Zeonbud to create a highly efficient, productive and stress-resistant infrastructure for content distribution in the shortest possible time.

The national system, built around Selenio’s media convergence platform, facilitates content distribution via satellite from Kyiv to 167 transmitters across the country. Selenio provides Zeonbud with fully functional, compact and centralized headends for DVB-T2 video processing and transmission, as opposed to traditional headends that use a large number of equipment with different functionalities.

Selenio is based on an ultra-compact, energy-efficient 3RU modular chassis with 14 card slots that can be swapped out on the fly. This flexible solution supports multiple functions in a TV environment. In the context of national broadcasting, Selenio is ideally suited to the requirements of the environment, combining encoders, multiplexers, DVB-T2 adapters and an integrated monitoring and control system.

“This is a fully functional solution that fully meets the requirements for the headend. It allowed Zeonbud to create a highly efficient, productive and stress-resistant infrastructure for content distribution in the shortest possible time,” said Vladimir Prokopenko, Head of the Network Management Center at Zeonbud.

In addition, within the framework of long-term cooperation with Zeonbud, our company’s specialists also supplied Flashlink optical systems from Nevion and Videotek traffic flow analyzers from Harris (now Imagine Communications). Analyzers provide monitoring and testing of compressed video, audio and data levels. Zeonbud’s engineers can monitor all outgoing and incoming flows of the head station in real time.

Today, experts from other countries where the transition to digital television is still planned are consulting with Zeonbud.

“Zeonbud is much more than a client for us. It is a long-term partner. Our cooperation began in 2011 with the first installation of the Selenio platform in Europe, and together we have gone through the path of pioneers in the digital television space. The specialists of the manufacturer, integrator and user have done a solid joint work in this direction and can now act as experts in advising on the implementation of DVB-T2. The project is interesting and very ambitious. I would like to thank Zeonbud specialists for their trust and fruitful joint work,” said Alexander Selyaninov, Commercial Director of VisionHOUSE.
