KTBS-TV, independent broadcaster in Shreveport, Louisiana, modernizes program and news production workflows and expands storage with Avid Technology's leading tools based on MediaCentral Platform and Avid NEXIS intellegent storage.

"Avid shared storage has been rock solid and I’m not willing to gamble on other products for something as critical as our media storage."
KTBS has been using Avid solutions since 2001, so when the time came to upgrade newsroom, production and storage and streamline workflows for multiplatform broadcasting and especially raise web audience, the company addressed Avid.
Media company decided to invest in the end-to-end solution, with all data to be stored in the central office to serve the newsroom, production and advertising departments, providing access to the content to all participants.
“We have a lot of people who are trained on Avid products, and we felt that Avid offered the best solution for us and our environment,” said Dale Cassidy, chief engineer at KTBS. “Avid shared storage has been rock solid and I’m not willing to gamble on other products for something as critical as our media storage. The ability to store multiple types of content on Avid NEXIS—not just Avid files but Adobe files as well—is very appealing.”
KTBS became the first US customer to invest in x.news – a new plug in for MediaCentral from x.news Information Technology, a member of Avid Alliance Partner program.
x.news is a story research tool that will accelerate KTBS’ newsgathering and story creation workflows by enabling its journalists to search content quickly from many different sources.
KTBS upgraded Avid iNEWS - the key element of the story-centric workflow from Avid for news creation and delivery. KTBS also upgraded their editing stations based on Avid Media Composer which is linked to NewsCutter option.
